September was another strong month in real estate for the Portland Metro area! Pending sales were up 17.3% over this time last year, which is a great sign for the strength of the market. September represents a total recovery in the market with closed sales year to date passing last years sales for the first time this year. Sales have been so strong that they’re outpacing the new listings coming on the market. Now is a great time for sellers because there is so much demand affording them a quick sale and often several offers to choose from. Buyers are often competing for the homes that are for sale, but with interest rates being so low, many are finding that they can afford more house with the same monthly payment than anytime in the last few years. The coming winter months usually bring a slower time in the real estate market and though we expect sales to remain strong this winter, it can be a great opportunity for buyers that don’t want to be faced with as much competition.
